Finnish Pumi

During the years of breeding it was always very important for us that the dogs which got out of our kennel should have been good - at least of excellent quality. We are very poud that the founders of the world famous Finnish pumi breeding were Mocskos pumis: Mocskos Dajka and Mocskos Darázs, who later were followed by a male dog from the Kutyavári kennel.

It was 1972 and earlier the pumi breed was unknown in Finland. Because of it, a lot of questions emerged in the new Finnish breeders and judges. They have to be highly appretiated for their efforts to understand and know the pumi breed.

That time there were only two international shows in Hungary: the spring and autumn CACIB. The Finnish breeders and those who were interested in pumis, taking the time and efforts, regularly attended these shows. What's more they came to Hungary to participate on a course organized specially for them by my husband.

In this picture you can see the Finnish judges with Prof. Dr. Pál Sárkány, president of the Hungarian Agricultural Publishing Company, writer of several books about dogs, who was the president of MEOE, the Hungarian Kennel Club and who was also the president of FCI that time:

Among the many outstanding Finnish breeders one name must be mentioned who played very important role in making the pumi breed popular in Finland: it was Marjättä Jääskeleinen.
